Self-Help

Meet Laila Stark and Tinkerbell Moonlight, who are ready to guide you through the eager world of self-help. Fitness instructors. Life coaches. Self-help gurus. Through sweat, encouragement, gym beats, and mysticism, Tinkerbell & Laila test, demonstrate, and inform about different self-help methods and their effects.

Choreographers and dancers/ performers Mari Vittradotter and Unni Britta Kangas  explore the theme of self-help through modern and contemporary dance, with influences from the language of jazz and hip-hop/la style, along with music, voice, and text. It’s about getting over someone quickly, waking up happier in the morning, becoming more efficient, and simply freeing the best version of yourself. With humor and critique, we problematize the “quick fixes” of self-help. In a time saturated with messages about personal development, we want to question the constant pressure on individuals to improve themselves. The performance highlights the absurd expectations of self-actualization and the search for quick solutions to life’s challenges.
